Flexcraft Attends the Manufacturers Association for Plastic Processors 2018 Benchmarking and Best Practices Conference

The Flexcraft leadership team recently participated in the Manufacturers Association for Plastic Processors (MAPP) 2018 Benchmarking and Best Practices Conference in Indianapolis, IN at which they met with top leaders and gained considerable knowledge. As an extraordinary and valuable event, MAPP gathers manufacturing leaders from the industry annually to network, learn and improve. This year, over 600 plastics professionals were in attendance.

Established in 1997 and managed by plastics industry leaders, MAPP’s mission is to enable leaders within the plastics industry to achieve new levels of success. This is achieved by harnessing the organization’s collective knowledge of top plastics companies across the country and leveraging contributions of its members through collaborative benchmarking activities, active member forums, networking events and the association’s annual conference.

Attending these events is one of the ways the Flexcraft team stays ahead of trends.

Manufacturers Association for Plastic Processors Theme: Be Extraordinary

The core of this year’s Benchmarking and Best Practices conference addressed leadership, best practices in operations, the latest financial benchmarks, sales and marketing as well as the impact of employees on the bottom-line.

The 2018 theme was: “Be Extraordinary.”

“Becoming better is not something that just happens; good leaders continually work to make themselves better…”

Keynote Speakers at the Manufacturers Association for Plastic Processors

The event included keynote exciting, engaging, and provoking speakers. These speakers included David Horsager of the Trust Edge Leadership Institute, Alan Hobson of Climb Back Inc., and retired General Stanley McChrystal.  While overall content of each presentation varied widely, the underlying message was clear: with trust, leadership and dedication, anything is possible. But lack any of these key components, and look out below!

Breakout Labs at the Manufacturers Association for Plastic Processors

What’s great about these conferences is they focus on the big picture. Breakout sessions at the Manufacturers Association for Plastic Processors encouraged participants to think in ways that allow businesses to be run more efficiently, effectively and with greater resolve.

As a truly valuable experience, the breakout labs and networking sessions were hosted by fellow peers, provided many different options to listen in on a presentation and, more importantly, participate in thought-provoking discussions following the presentation.

Topics covered key issues that all manufacturers face, including:

  • Workforce development
  • Technology integration
  • Creating and maintaining culture
  • Sales/marketing
  • Operations improvements, and more.

Most importantly though was the willingness of peers to share their successes, failures and everything in between, to help the industry move forward together in a positive direction.

Ben Smith, CEO of Flexcraft agrees, “From a team perspective, it was good for our staff to share in this experience together. It was incredibly refreshing to participate in such a well-organized event that brought tremendous value to all involved.”
